Day 5 - Pure Cardio (1/19)
6am per the regular. Everything I recalled about this particular Insanity video from my week or so of playing around with it last year was pretty much along the lines of "brings me near death." And in fact, I was remembering accurately.
This ish is truly bananas. The great thing about the other videos thus far are that there is a good deal of 30 second rests built in in order to bring down the heart rate, grab some water, wipe the litres of sweat from your face, etc. As far as I've read, this is a great way to work out in such a way that will serve to raise your metabolism and maximize fat burn (as opposed to simply caloric burn.) And insomuch as my metabolism appears to be as slow as death (recently confirmed by a registered nutritionist), I need all the help I can get.
But hold the front door. Shaun T did NOT get this memo when making Pure Cardio. This video is literally one non-stop sequence of straight up craziness. Minute after minute of crazy athletic feats that remind me how this video is in fact designed for those who are pretty much already mega in shape.
But did this stop me? Hell to the naw. Except for the moments when it did in fact stop me. But those were mere 5-10 second moments ( I hope, I may be distorting). In the end, the sweat poureth and that's what gives.
In afternoon workout delight news - I introduced Zumba to some PLC lady co-workstresses. I'll be teaching Wednesday afternoons (out of the goodness of my heart, no hustling a la Warren County this time). J, H, W, P, and T did a phe-nom-e-nal job of shaking their respective thangs. Good times.
