Insanity Chronicle of Doom

Because everyone deserves the chance to chronicle ill-fated decisions to embark on workout plans that are far too advanced for them.

Day 8 - Cardio P&R the 2nd (1/22)

I believe this may be first update directly after the throes of a Shaun T episode. As one could assume, I am in fact drenched in sweat but never so much as to affect my blogging abilities. Praises due.

So why so late in the day? (One might ask.) Well when your Saturday starts out heading to the high school you work at at 7:30 in the morning for a snow make up day - you know you're in for a bit of an ishstorm. I actually did set my alarm for 5:50am in hopes that I would forget the day of the week and barrel on out of bed into Shaun's arms. But my body revolted against that idea in the middle of the night by waking me up around 3:00am so I could gleefully reset my alarm for 7:00. Can I get a few points for trying?

Saturday school is inherently the worst idea ever particularly when you work at a school where many a student can't be bothered to come Monday through Thursday (you heard that right, no school on Fridays here at PLC). Nevertheless we got through the day painlessly enough, helped tremendously by the news that all ten of our formerly would-be graduates will actually, really, and truly all be (legitimately!) getting their diplomas on Monday. So proud of those jokers.

After school found us (myself, H, and J) at Wild Wing Cafe which some might say is the exact opposite of completing an Insanity workout, which would be an absolutely correct evaluation of the matter. In seven pages of menu, it is at least probable that I could have found something vaguely nutritious to order (thanks for the steamed broccoli suggestion, fake smile), but somehow I ended up with 12 wings in front of me. A house salad (plus points!) appeared as well but some idiot put a piece of cheese toast on top of it! And some bigger idiot ate it. But I DID order light ranch dressing so obviously that cancels everything else out, right?

As all educators tend to do when they socialize with each other, we ended up shooting the breeze for hours on end particularly opining about the many ins and outs of PLC-dom. By the time I got home it was closing in on 5:00, the hour I had vowed to finally begin my workout. But the wings were nigh (shout out to student, KO, for reminding me of that word and its usage!) near digested.

BUT, as we can tell re: the sweat, some how I DID in fact bust this work out, out. And believe it or not, it kind of sort of rocked. In all the gloriously painful and grueling ways a way too advanced for you workout can rock.

Pausing to reflect on the fact that I am actually entering into the second week of this chronicle, I'm kind of almost ready to admit that I may actually be proud of myself for keeping this up. And in the same breath I have to realize that it's a lot easier for me to play the part of permanent jokestress, always self-effacing and incredulous at and of my own abilities to get my ish together on the health and wellness front. Maybe we'll try to work on that as well over the course of these next 51 days. Who knows?
